History

Duck Lake Country Club was established in 1922 as a 9-hole golf course with an additional 9 holes were added in 1968. The golf course architects were Tom Bendelow in 1922 and Art Young in 1968.

Tom Bendelow was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and worked extensively with Donald Ross in the early 1900's. Mr. Bendelow was responsible for designing over 400 courses in America from 1895 to the early 1920s. Among his accomplishments outside of Michigan are Medinah #3, Medinah IL and East Lake Country Club in Atlanta GA, site of the PGA Tour Championship.

Golfers can recognize the different styles of these two architects. The front nine presents challenges with large fairway bunkers, sloping fairways, and hilltop greens. The back nine introduces open fairways, water hazards, a long par three, and an uphill dog leg.
